Development of Law Enforcement Data Recovery Methodologies
On Sept 1, 2010, the National Institute of Justice (NIJ), U.S. Department of Justice Office of Justice Programs, awarded Great Basin Data Recovery, a Nevada Corporation, a grant in response to a solicitation entitled “Electronic Crime and Digital Evidence Recovery - Damaged Hard Drive Recovery and Forensic Examination Tools”.
Under the grant Great Basin Data Recovery staff worked in conjunction with California Data Recovery, Inc., a Sacramento, California Corporation in the development of standard processes and methodologies for law enforcement in the field of Forensic Data Recovery.
Also partnering in the project was the Washoe County Nevada Sheriff’s Department. The Sherriff’s Department as a partner in the project was instrumental in the evaluation and testing of the project outcomes.
October 17-21, 2011, Great Basin Data Recovery and its partners offered the first ever Forensic Data Recovery course in Reno, Nevada. Attending the course were law enforcement investigators from the Washoe County Sheriff's Department ICAC Task Force.
